[REPOST] Off-the-Shelf vs. Software as a Service (SaaS)

In our previous blog, we’ve talked about certain instance when buying Off-the-Shelf is probably the best way to go for the organization. What it all comes down to is that the organization wasn’t fully sure about what they wanted, they are half-hearted into making an investment, and prefers not to be connected online.

If its for any other reasons, the organization could have easily decided on going for a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution as well. The 2 solutions are similar in many aspects but with SaaS providing some added benefits. However, these options will only really work if the organization will decide on going for an online solution vs. one that is ran fully offline.

I found this blog entry from Bill4Time to be really informational: Switching to Software as a Service – The convenience and benefits of cloud based applications. Here is also a small infographic they presented that highlights the difference between Off-the-Shelf and SaaS solutions.

Here at Creating Info, most of our applications are ran as SaaS though we can also offer offline solutions.. Inquire with us today if you have any specific needs at hello@creatinginfo.com 🙂
