When I was searching for a definition of inventory management, this is what I found on Wikipedia: “Inventory management is a science primarily about specifying the shape and percentage of stocked goods”. As an entrepreneur you might agree that this definition is vague and does not capture what inventory management is really about. When we think about inventory management, thousand things may come to mind. Controlling inventory, taking care of your accounts, managing sales and inventory orders, correctly handling invoices and other costs are just a few things that might strike you. Rather than the simplistic definition Wikipedia gave, managing your inventory and sales properly involves so much more than just controlling your inventory.

What a layman needs to know about SaaS
I wanted to write you guys an introductory piece about Software-as-a-Service but I couldn’t decide a proper theme for it. So as usual, I browsed the internet for details related to the topic to find inspiration. As I am researching for this article, I realized that the term Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is a very technical term that perhaps only IT industry practitioners understand. In fact, I looked up Software-as-a-Service for dummies on Google and it returned various definitions associated to SaaS such as – multi-tenancy, highly elastic, and modular. Wow! 🙂

In our previous blog, we’ve talked about certain instance when buying Off-the-Shelf is probably the best way to go for the organization. What it all comes down to is that the organization wasn’t fully sure about what they wanted, they are half-hearted into making an investment, and prefers not to be connected online.
If its for any other reasons, the organization could have easily decided on going for a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution as well. The 2 solutions are similar in many aspects but with SaaS providing some added benefits. However, these options will only really work if the organization will decide on going for an online solution vs. one that is ran fully offline.
